Migrations delegates residence requests from foreigners to Social Security
What it is

The Ministry of Migrations transfers to Social Security bodies (INSS, Treasury) the reception and registration of applications for authorization of residence in Spain. Previously, the Ministry managed them directly.

What it means for you

If you request residence in Spain, your application is now processed through Social Security offices instead of Migrations. It changes where you submit documents and who receives them. It comes into force on April 16, 2026.

Madrid distributes crisis funds to municipalities without publishing amounts
What it is

The Government approves the distribution of compensation money to municipalities and provinces for the Middle East crisis. It sets the technical criteria for distribution (population, income, etc.).

What it means for you

Your municipality receives extraordinary funds but you won't know how much until it applies them. The resolution does not detail how much goes to each municipality, only the general distribution criteria.

What it is
