Coal miners: you will pay contribution differences in a single installment in February 2027
What it is

The government establishes a special deadline for workers and companies in coal mining to pay contribution differences resulting from the new standardized bases of 2026. These accumulated differences from January 2026 will be paid in a lump sum in February 2027.

What it means for you

If you work or worked in coal mining, you must make a single payment in February 2027 for all accumulated contribution differences from the beginning of the year. The BOE does not specify concrete amounts, but it is a change in the rules for a sector in extinction.

Navarra: renting a room is now like renting an entire apartment
What it is

A new regional law equates room rentals in Navarra to whole apartment rentals. Temporary contracts cannot exceed one year; if they do, they are considered for permanent housing. Protections for duration, rent, deposits are extended and rent caps are established in tight market zones.

What it means for you

If you rent a room in Navarra, you will have the same rights as if you rented an entire apartment: maximum one-year contract if temporary, ability to claim improper charges up to five years later, and rent limitation in tight market zones. Landlords must register the contract in an official registry.

Navarra protects rental housing: it can never be sold
What it is

Navarra eliminates the possibility of selling protected rental housing after 21 years and extends indefinite protection to all existing rental properties. It also expands the government's right of first refusal and retraction over declassified properties of large holders in tight market zones for ten years.

What it means for you

Protected rental housing in Navarra can never be sold and will maintain its protection forever. If a large holder sells a declassified property in a tight market zone, the government can purchase it before anyone else for the next ten years.
