1140 provisions published
The Constitutional Court has admitted three questions of unconstitutionality raised by the Regional Court of Justice of Castilla-La Mancha against the sixth and eighth additional provisions of Law 20/2021, which regulates the reduction of temporary employment in the public sector. They challenge the constitutionality of stabilization measures for possible violation of the right to access the civil service on equal terms and of State competencies.
Thousands of temporary public employees will see their employment future determined by the Constitutional Court's ruling: if it annuls the provisions, stabilization processes underway will be halted; if it upholds them, they will continue. Those affected have 15 days from publication to appear in the proceedings.
Royal Decree-Law 27/2026 amends the Urban Rental Law so that contracts for habitual residence rentals are automatically renewed for successive periods of five years (seven if the landlord is a legal entity), unless one party gives notice otherwise. The landlord must give notice six months in advance (previously four) and the tenant must give two months.
If you are a tenant of a habitual residence, your contract no longer ends when the term expires: it keeps renewing until someone gives notice. If the landlord decides not to renew, they must pay you compensation equivalent to twelve monthly rents of a dwelling with similar characteristics, with a minimum of one month's rent for each year you have lived there.
Royal Decree-Law 25/2026 extends the 20 cent per liter discount on automotive diesel throughout October, within the Comprehensive Response Plan to the Crisis in the Middle East. Additionally, it increases the discount on gasoline by 5 cents per liter.
If you refuel with diesel in October, you will continue paying 20 cents less per liter thanks to the reduction in the Hydrocarbon Tax. For gasoline, the discount is increased. The plan will be phased out gradually over the coming months.
